The "Greatest Generation" is worried! Many of today's younger retirees are not joining Associations that serve military retirees. This has serious implications for the future. Will the next "Greatest Generation" step up? Budget cuts to federal programs are protected by the voices of current members and leaders of organizations representing military retirees, many of whom are in their advanced years. When they are unable to participate, who will sound the alarm when benefits are threatened? Military retirees who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, whether during times of war or peace, must take up the challenge to protect earned benefits - and the more voices directed at Congress, the better chance of successfully containing cuts that affect all service members, whether they are retired or will retire in the future. Budget cuts also have serious implications for the service member's spouse and dependents; who will provide for them when the service member is gone if benefits for spouses and dependents are also gone? AMRA welcomes to membership individuals from all branches and all ranks who are retired from active duty, Guard and Reserve, medically retired and 100% service-connected disabled, and surviving spouses.
TOGETHER, we can make a difference in the lives of military retirees and their families by amplifying the "voice of the retiree" when it comes to protecting the benefits earned by a career of service to the nation. If you qualify, click on Membership from the blue navigation bar on the left and add your voice to ours as we advocate for issues important to military retirees, their spouses and dependents. |
